What is it?

Concierge care is a type of practice that strives to restore the time honored patient-physician relationship, without influence or hassles from insurance companies and health care systems. Under this model, patients pay a monthly fee in exchange for services. Alliance does not accept insurance, which allows for more affordable care, as patients have access to wholesale value labs, tests, and procedures. In a concierge practice, patients have better access to their personal physician and can spend more time with their doctor during appointments. Concierge doctors limit the number of patients they care for in order to be available when needed. Alliance offers internal medicine services to adults, ages 18 and older. Patients can receive medical care for most routine and urgent issues, with services and prices being completely transparent.

At Alliance, same-day and next-day appointments are available with your doctor.

Patients will also have 24/7 access to their doctor for health questions and concerns.

All appointments are 30-60 minutes, depending on the patient’s preference.

Alliance strives to find alternative and convenient ways to treat patients, including email, virtual visits, after hours visits, and house calls. 

Alliance does not bill insurance, so there are no delays in care due to refusal of services/treatment.

About Dr. Axtell

Andrea Axtell, MD was born and raised in Pendleton, Oregon. She received her undergraduate degree at Albertson College of Idaho (now College of Idaho). After graduation, she spent 3 years in Portland working in a microbiology lab at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). While there, she participated in oncologic research and helped develop a clinical testing lab. Dr. Axtell was then accepted into the medical school at OHSU.

After receiving her medical education, Dr. Axtell completed internal medicine residency at Portland’s Legacy Health System. In 2010, Dr. Axtell moved back to Idaho. She joined St. Luke’s Health System and worked in a traditional internal medicine clinic for 3 years. Afterwards, Dr. Axtell branched out and opened Alliance Concierge Care to provide new, exciting medical services to the Boise area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Alliance membership fees count as health insurance under the Accountable Care Act (Obamacare)?
No. Alliance is not insurance, so you will still need to purchase an insurance plan to prevent being fined under the Accountable Care Act. Alliance recommends either a catastrophic plan, or a plan with a high deductible.

Are services rendered by Alliance applicable to flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts?
You may be able to cover services under flexible spending and health savings accounts and are encouraged to submit the appropriate paperwork. Alliance can not guarantee reimbursement, however.

What happens when Dr. Axtell is on vacation?
Dr. Axtell will notify patients via email prior to leaving town so that issues can be addressed ahead of time. She will also be available via cell phone while away. In case of an emergency, however, patients will be referred for evaluation at an urgent care center or emergency department

What if I require a referral or specialty services?
Patients will be referred to specialists as needed for issues that are outside of Dr. Axtell’s scope of practice. If additional labs or diagnostic studies are required, patients will be referred to outside facilities which offer discounted prices to Alliance members.

What if I have Medicare or Medicaid?
You are welcome to join Alliance! Unfortunately, Medicare and Medicaid will not reimburse for office visits at Alliance Concierge Care.

Will my insurance reimburse me for Alliance services?
You may request reimbursement for office visits, but not monthly fees. Alliance can not promise that you will be reimbursed, however, and will not be responsible for submitting paperwork. You can continue to use your insurance to cover medications, specialists, and labs/diagnostics (although you may find it cheaper to pay cash for these).
